PV GAS announcedthat the train carrying 16 ISO tanks with LNG would reach Dong Anh Station in Hanoi this week. LNG ISO tank containers are manufactured according to ISO standards (International Organisation for Standardisation) and are used for the transport of various liquids and gases.
The train successfully transported tanks filled with LNG from the Thi Vai LNG harbour in the south to Dong Anh Station in Hanoi, covering a nearly 2,000km journey. This marks a momentous step towards meeting the growing energy demands and advancing Vietnam's industrial development. The company said the first shipment was expected to reach its northern destination in three days.
Nguyen Phuc Tue, deputy general director of PV GAS declared that the first LNG ship from the south to the north was the result of the enthusiasm, determination and continuous efforts of the PV GAS team, demonstrating a spirit of daring, innovation, and creativity.
“ From this departure, PV GAS will open up many opportunities and development space for the corporation and its member units,” he said.
PV GAS is making strategic moves to shift towards an integrated energy business model |
PV GAS is actively implementing an integrated energy business model, aiming to deliver LNG to all regions of the country through a new transportation method. The use of ISO Tanks for transporting LNG by rail is not only an innovative initiative but also helps address increasing energy demands, particularly in the northern region.
Realising the need for energy to serve industry in the north, PV GAS has urgently deployed a multi-modal LNG transportation plan combining road and rail to bring LNG to market areas far from PV GAS's existing energy infrastructure.
The departure of the train carrying 16 ISO tanks at a temperature of -162 degrees Celsius marked PV GAS's completion of the gas energy supply chain by pipeline, waterway, road and rail; creating a comprehensive, flexible and widespread energy supply system throughout Vietnam.
This is an important premise for PV GAS to develop services and perfect new energy solutions that are diverse, flexible and competitive, meeting customer energy needs, while serving economic and social development.
In addition to the mission of expanding PV GAS's supply map to areas without complete infrastructure and perfecting energy solutions to serve customers with LNG, trading by rail/tanker truck also contributes to the development of clean energy sources (reducing CO2 emissions by 30 per cent compared to coal and 40 per cent compared to oil).
PV GAS and its parent company PetroVietnam are leading a competitive energy market towards the complete development of clean and sustainable energy sources.
