The Dutch Lady milk brand, under FrieslandCampina Vietnam, has extended its assistance to those affected by Typhoon Yagi in the northern provinces of Ha Nam and Yen Bai.

Nearly two weeks after Typhoon Yagi passed, significant damage to livelihoods and production has been reported across the region. In keeping with the spirit of ‘mutual support and affection,’ Dutch Lady has delivered nearly 70,000 servings of fresh milk to these areas, aiming to provide both nourishment and motivation to the affected citizens.

In Ha Nam, one of the areas severely impacted by the floods, FrieslandCampina Vietnam was among the first foreign-invested enterprises in the dairy sector to contribute to the province’s socioeconomic development.

Nguyen Van Cuong, a dairy farmer who has participated in FrieslandCampina Vietnam’s Dairy Development Programme for nearly 30 years, said, “When the floods came, the grass was submerged, and the cows couldn’t eat fresh grass. Thankfully, we received timely support from the company, including silage bags, ensuring our cows didn’t go hungry during this challenging time.”

A representative of the local government said, “During the floods, essential supplies like nutritious food, especially milk, are critical for supporting the community, particularly children. Many have been living in flooded conditions for days, lacking necessities. The support from Dutch Lady is very timely, and I believe that with solidarity, the community will soon overcome these difficulties and stabilise their lives.”

In recent days, hundreds of thousands of households have been in extremely difficult situations, lacking essential supplies. Additionally, many people in various places are still living in isolation. Many heavily devastated areas have yet to be reached. The recovery efforts from the floods in the northern region will be very challenging ahead.

In Yen Bai province, many families are facing difficulties in recovering and stabilising their lives after the disaster, especially children, who are the most vulnerable. Yen Bai is one of the localities that suffered severe damage from the recent floods and natural disasters.

Recovery in the northern region remains challenging, with many households still in difficult conditions, lacking essential supplies. Numerous areas, heavily devastated, are yet to receive aid.

In Yen Bai province, the recovery process is especially tough for children and families, who are among the most vulnerable. Yen Bai was hit particularly hard by the floods and natural disasters, leaving many families struggling to rebuild.

Volunteers from Dutch Lady were deeply moved by the unfortunate circumstances they witnessed. Eight-year-old Nguyen Thi An and his siblings were overjoyed to receive Dutch Lady milk, their first since the disaster. Nguyen Thi Linh, their mother, said, “Since the disaster, we’ve received food and supplies from benefactors, but this is the first time my children have had milk again, and they were so excited.”

As a global leader in nutrition, FrieslandCampina Vietnam has collaborated with organisations such as the Vietnam Red Cross Society, the Vietnam Women’s Union, and local distributors to provide practical gifts and small joys to people in flood-hit areas. Representatives from Dutch Lady have undertaken numerous timely initiatives to help families rebuild their lives, including offering support to the company’s employees and distributors.

Although the milk portions are small, they carry heartfelt sentiments, with the belief that peaceful days will soon return. Dutch Lady is committed to continuing this journey, working with local distributors to offer price support for charitable organisations, and providing free transportation to deliver aid where it is needed most.
