Citi encouraged employees to set up their Zoom virtual backgrounds with the multicoloured rainbow flag as a symbol of the LGBTQ+ community for Pride Month.

The bank also designed a Facebook profile picture frame (Rainbow theme) for Citi staff and customers to use and share.

The staff could also learn interesting facts about the LGBTQ+ community through trivia in weekly emails so that all can have a deeper understanding of diversity and inclusion at the workplace.

“It should be highlighted that a diverse workforce stimulates new ideas and fresh ways of thinking and improves the skills needed to be a successful business in a rapidly changing environment. It also helps us attract the best talent in the industry,” said Thuy Lai, interim Vietnam CCO.

Citi employees joined the photo contest to show their support for diversity and inclusion by taking photos with the Rainbow flag and uploading the photos to their personal Facebook pages.

A new colourful lanyard, specially designed for Pride Month, was given to all Citi staff. They were also invited to join a small game to guess who are the LGBTQ+ allies in Citi Vietnam’s management team.

“Allies help people feel more comfortable expressing themselves at work. They also help others understand the importance of equality, fairness, acceptance, and mutual respect. It should be noted that as a global bank, diversity is part of our DNA at Citi,” said Thuy Lai.

Diversity and inclusion including LGBTQ+ is Citi’s business imperative because the bank’s mission is to promote an inclusive and vibrant work environment for all colleagues regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity, helping them bring their whole self to work, creating equal chances of success for everyone and reflecting the diversity of Citi customers.
