Cinemas, karaoke bars and spas to resume operation in Ho Chi Minh City |
On November 16, Phan Van Mai, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee announced a new set of pandemic restricitions, laying out which establishments can reopen in the city and under what conditions. Among them, massage parlours, spas, beauty clinics, bars, discotheques, and karaoke bars were greenlit to resume in low-risk districts. To reopen, both employees and visitors must be fully vaccinated or have confirmation of COVID-19 recovery.
The operation capacity in the yellow and orange zones is lowered by 50 per cent and 25 per cent, respectively. In red zones, these activities will remain closed.
In compliance with the city's pandemic regulations, libraries, cinemas, culture and art events, and arcades can also reopen in green zones. The operation capacity in other zones must also be lowered. According to the new guidelines, cinemas will be able to open their doors to customers on November 19.
Meanwhile, the resumption of motorbike ride-hailing services depends on the city's overall status. When Ho Chi Minh City as a whole is designated as a green zone, motorbike ride-hailing services can begin at full capacity. Only half of all motorcycles are allowed to operate in yellow zones, while ride-hailing is prohibited in orange and red zones. Ho Chi MInh City is currently classified as a yellow zone.
Ho Chi Minh City also enables street vendors and lottery sellers in green zones, but requires merchants in yellow zones to be completely vaccinated or have recovered from a previous infection. In the orange and red zones, the services remain banned.
