Ceremonial launch of Victoria Mekong |
This major milestone saw the sleek 35-cabin ship being transferred from land to water. Interior construction will continue for three more months before her journey to Can Tho Harbour, while the inaugural sailing is confirmed for December 11 as planned.
The brand new 4-star ship will be one of the first to cruise out of Can Tho, offering a new luxury travel experience in the area. As planned, the Victoria Mekong will offer 3-night and 4-night cruising itineraries between Vietnam’s Mekong Delta and Cambodia’s capital Phnom Penh. Built into 4 new group tours and 2 new private tours, it will range from an introductory tour of the wonders of southern Vietnam and Cambodia to an in-depth journey through Indochina. Each itinerary offers the perfect showcase for the treasures of this delightful region.
Well-known as the Mekong Delta’s largest city, Can Tho locates three hours by road from Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho is set to become one of Vietnam’s hottest destinations, with the launching of new flight routes this past summer between Can Tho International Airport and the capital cities of Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok. Vietnamese airlines already connect Can Tho to a host of Vietnamese cities, including Hanoi, Danang, and the islands of Phu Quoc and Con Dao.
The Victoria Mekong is operated by Victoria Mekong, a joint venture between Thien Minh Group (TMG) and Wendy Wu Tours, the UK's leading Asia tour specialist. The launch of the Victoria Mekong cruise is an important milestone for the two companies, setting sights on the start of several similar products in the future.
