ASIAN HORASIS 2019 on the roll

ASIAN HORASIS Binh Duong 2019 is attended by more than 1,000 CEOs and leaders from groups of more than 60 countries and territories in the world, leaders from central and provincial level authorities, and leaders from Vietnamese enterprises.

In the next two days, this world economic forum will host a series of events with four plenary sessions and 35 dialogues. The dialogues will be organised on topics pertaining to the regional and global economy and new trends in technology development with speeches and presentations from world-leading speakers.

This is the fourth time the ASIAN HORASIS forum is held and the second time Binh Duong has been chosen as the host. The forum has been held for two consecutive years in Binh Duong and provides an opportunity to promote the image of the province and Vietnam among international partners and to improve its management capacity of science and technology and accelerate the plan to develop Binh Duong into a smart city.

According to the leaders of Binh Duong People’s Committee, this is a special international event with key implications for the province's economic, political, and social development. The event is opening up important opportunities for Binh Duong province and all attendant businesses to enhance the development of an open multilateral trading system, connect with businesses, participate in the sharing economy, share experiences on building smart cities, discuss a future vision, as well as promote trade liberalisation, investment, and economic co-operation for the common benefit of Asia-Pacific countries and other economies in the world.

ASIAN HORASIS 2019 is also a key part of the Smart City Binh Duong 2019 series of events with programmes such as the 15th Asian International Urban Science Conference on Asia, kicking off a number of projects on the development of scientific and technological information of the province, such as announcing the operation of Binh Duong hotline 1022, inaugurating the Community Initiative and Support Startups Centre.

In the afternoon and evening of November 24, the forum has many important events, including seminars with the following topics: competition in a new era, building shared digital futures, restoring globalisation of trade, sharing economy in Asia; impact investment and Asian blockchains. These events will be followed by a plenary session themed “The Asia in Transition Process” and a welcome dinner.

Previously, on the evening of November 23, Binh Duong People's Committee, in collaboration with the investor Becamex IDC Corporation, announced the start of the World Trade Centre project of Binh Duong New City.

This is one of the largest-scale projects in Binh Duong New City, built on an area of seven hectares, with a prime location in a roundabout adjacent to the administrative centre of Binh Duong province. When finished, the World Trade Centre will be a complex, including an exhibition and international convention centre, hotel, shopping mall, office area, metro station connected to Metro Line 1 of Ho Chi Minh City. This is a multi-functional complex diverse services and fully equipped with facilities spread over 70,000 square metres of land. It will be also an ideal venue for public business cultural activities at both day and evening.

According to Nguyen Van Hung, chairman of Becamex IDC, the investor of the Binh Duong World Trade Centre, to become a member of the World Trade Centre Association (WTCA), Becamex IDC had spent a long time researching and studying the world trade centre models of others around the world, such as the US, South Korea, Taiwan, and others.

Meanwhile, Tran Thanh Liem, Chairman of Binh Duong People's Committee, said that with the available strengths such as strong industrial development, attracting thousands of FDI projects, Binh Duong has many favourable conditions for the successful implementation of the World Trade Centre project in Binh Duong New City, thereby, contributing to the spread of economic and urban development of the region.

At the same time, the centre will create mechanisms and a facilitating environment for domestic businesses to connect with international partners and markets.

Scott Wang, vice president of the WTCA said that for more than half a century, the WTCA has built a global network to connect with members, cities, and businesses, creating world-class iconic real estate projects and event centres. The members of the WTCA are bringing prosperity and opportunity to everyone as well as the business community.
