From July 30 to August 3, Oven D’or Restaurant will host Selera Malaysia, a vibrant Malaysian food festival spotlighting authentic dishes crafted by guest chefs from Berjaya Times Square Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The event offers diners a rare taste of Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage, right in the heart of Hanoi.
Selera Malaysia is a collaborative effort between Sheraton Hanoi Hotel, Berjaya Times Square Hotel, the Embassy of Malaysia in Hanoi, and Tourism Malaysia’s Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, promoting cultural exchange and culinary tourism through authentic dining experiences.
Speaking about the event, Nguyen Cong Chung, director of Food and Beverages cum Executive Chef at Sheraton Hanoi Hotel, said,"Cuisine is one of the most beautiful bridges between cultures. With Selera Malaysia, we are offering delicious dishes as well as a soulful journey through Malaysia's heritage - where each ingredient and cooking method tells a story. The participation of two guest chefs from Berjaya Times Square Hotel ensures an experience that is both authentic and memorable. We hope our guests will find joy, connection, and travel inspiration right at the dining table."
'Selera Malaysia' means 'the taste of Malaysia', inviting diners on a flavourful journey through the country’s rich multicultural heritage, presented through iconic dishes such as Ayam Masak Merah (chicken braised in a bold and spicy tomato sauce); Daging Rendang Dendeng (tender beef simmered in rich, aromatic rendang sauce); Ikan Goreng Assam Nyonya (crispy fried fish in tangy Peranakan-style tamarind sauce); and dozens of other hot dishes, grilled delights, and traditional desserts.
Every ingredient and cooking technique is carefully selected and prepared to preserve the authenticity of Malaysian flavours, delivering a dining experience as genuine as if you were there.
Joining the festival are two seasoned guest chefs from Malaysia, namely chef Mohd Mustaqim Bin S Samsudin and chef Ku Muhammad G’brail Bin Ku Harifidilah.
With a combined almost 30 years of experience in the hospitality and culinary industry between them, both chefs have built their careers working at renowned hotels across Malaysia and Brunei. Their profound knowledge of traditional Malaysian cuisine, combined with refined culinary techniques, promises to deliver authentic flavours alongside captivating live cooking performances that will elevate the dining experience at Oven D’or.
