According to Mr. Vu The Binh, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, the Mart will serve as the opening event of the Tourism Promotion Programme for 2013.
The Mart will have 400 stalls, including 250 domestic and 150 foreign ones. The foreign enterprises to take part in the event will mainly come from South East Asia, North East Asia and Western Europe, including Vietnam’s major tourism markets such as the Republic of Korea, Thailand, Taiwan (China), Malaysia and Singapore.
The Vice Chairman stressed that participating tourism companies would be encouraged to discount their tourism products by at least 20 per cent in the upcoming tourist season, between May and December this year.
The organizing panel said that with the aim of developing VITM into a leading trademark of Vietnamese tourism, the VITM Hanoi 2013 will focus on three major sectors: domestic, outbound and inbound tourism.
The Mart will contain five major events: trade fair; destination promotion and introduction; outdoor exhibition; conferences; and culture-education-employment activities.
The Vietnam International Travel Mart Hanoi 2013 is organized by the Vietnam Tourism Association in cooperation with the Vietnam General Department of Tourism, Hanoi People’s Committee and European Commission.
Organisers hope to hold VITM events annually starting from this year.
