People are required to strictly follow social distancing at the minimart |
On August 1, the first zero dong minimart was officially opened in Duc Thang ward, North Tu Liem district. During the first day, nearly 1,000 people were served, including poor workers, self-employed affected by COVID-19, and hundreds of students stuck in dormitories.
There are more than 60 items in the minimart such as dried and fresh foods, spices, and vegetables. There are also many one commune, one product (OCOP) products of Hanoi.
People can visit the minimart at specified time frames to ensure strict compliance with epidemic prevention regulations. Moreover, each family in difficulty will receive a coupon worth VND400,000 ($17.40).
Three more zero dong minimarts are expected to be launched next week. The organising committee hopes to deploy more than 20 minimarts throughout Hanoi and distribute tens of thousands of gift vouchers to residents.
In addition to these physical minimarts to support nearby people in difficulties, the organisers also implemented an online store, which delivers goods within 1-2 days.
The zero dong minimart has been launched by the Youth Union of the Vietnam Student Association in Hanoi, Red Star Entrepreneurs Club, and Phu Nhuan Jewelry JSC (PNJ), in collaboration with the Hanoi Young Entrepreneurs Association and Hanoi Association for Women Entrepreneurs. The campaign is sponsored by Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade.
