Held in response to World Environment Day (June 5), the event marked the start of a series of environmental protection initiatives under the long-term “Nghi Son Green” campaign, a collaborative effort to promote sustainable development and strengthen community engagement in the Nghi Son Economic Zone (NSEZ).

The campaign was jointly organised by NSEZ, Industrial Parks of Thanh Hoa, and Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical LLC (NSRP). They received strong support from local people’s committees, the Thanh Hoa Border Guard Command, Nghi Son Port Border Guard Station, and foreign sponsors IKCV and KPI, along with 29 local businesses operating within the zone, local organisations, and residents.

The event was more than just a clean-up effort. It stood as a powerful symbol of collaboration among businesses, local authorities, and the community in delivering a shared vision of sustainable industrial development in the region.

As part of the campaign, a support package valued at nearly VND200 million ($7,680), including rubbish carts, dustbins, and workwear, was presented to Nghi Son commune. This practical contribution aims to support and enhance the commune’s daily waste management efforts, further reinforcing the long-term impact of the Nghi Son Green initiative.

The Beach Cleanup Campaign 2025 marks the first flagship environmental activity under the Nghi Son Green initiative, a long-term plan designed to foster a culture of environmental stewardship and social responsibility across the NSEZ business ecosystem. This was the first large-scale environmental initiative in the area with extensive participation and strong coordination between local enterprises, local authorities, and the community.

Participating companies are expected to take on active roles as co-investors and co-organisers of future environmental programmes, reinforcing a collective commitment to sustainability. Through this collaborative approach, the Nghi Son Green initiative aspires to evolve from a campaign into a continuous and shared mission that drives meaningful impact.

Speaking at the event, Yamato Kazutaka, general director of NSRP, emphasised, “Today’s success shows what can be achieved when we work together. For the first time, we carried out a beach clean-up in the Nghi Son area with local enterprises, authorities, and communities connected to Nghi Son Bay. This effort protects the environment, helps preserve tourism resources, and strengthens our commitment to sustainable development in the region.”

With its tangible impact and wide-ranging stakeholder engagement, the Beach Cleanup Campaign 2025 is expected to become a model for other industrial and economic zones across Vietnam, demonstrating that impactful environmental initiatives can begin at the grassroots level and drive far-reaching progress towards a more sustainable future.

The Beach Cleanup Campaign2025 stands as a powerful testament to the shared commitment of the business community towards environmental sustainability. In addition to NSRP’s leadership and coordination, the campaign was proudly supported and co-sponsored by 31 enterprises, who stand at the forefront of promoting sustainable development.

Their collective sponsorship powered this campaign, and reflects a unified vision for sustainable industrial growth, environmental responsibility, and long-term community impact. Together, they are helping shape Nghi Son into a national benchmark for green development.
