VIR will host a conference on digital economy development in Hanoi on September 30, gathering representatives from state management agencies, international organisations, and business experts.

Under the theme “Enablers for Digital Economy Development in Vietnam”, the event will have keynotes and panel discussions, focusing on the driving forces for Vietnam’s digital economy, market trends, 5G commercialisation, as well as new opportunities for economic sectors and businesses.

Vietnam's digital economy has made strides recently. The contribution of the digital economy to Vietnam's GDP is high compared to other countries in the region. The nation aims for the added value of the digital economy to GDP to reach 20 per cent in 2025 and 30 per cent by 2030.

To further develop the digital economy, the government has worked on solutions, such as developing digital infrastructure, perfecting institutions for digital economic development, improving digital skills and IT human resources, digital business development, and developing the digital economy.

The government's orientation for digital transformation in 2024 is developing the digital economy with four pillars of ICT industry, digitising economic sectors, digital management, digital data, creating motivation for economic development in a fast and sustainable manner. 2024 will also be the year when Vietnam commercialises and develops 5G nationwide to create infrastructure for industrial digital applications, creating new development space for economic sectors.

Besides the achievements, there are still problems facing the national digital transformation that require coordination among agencies, businesses, and people to promote digital transformation in all areas of socioeconomic life so that Vietnam's digital economy can achieve its goals.
