Tourism businesses in Vietnam are expecting a recovery in 2022 |
The Deputy PM asked the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) to implement tasks and measures to accelerate the recovery of the industry in alignment with the new normal; as well as quicken measures for the reopening of tourism activities.
The MCST collaborates with the Ministry of Planning and Investment and other relevant ministries and agencies to fulfil these tasks in line with Resolution No.11/NQ-CP dated January 30.
Moreover, the MCST is working with ministries, agencies, and localities on plans set out in the Vietnam Tourism Development Strategy by 2030, while solving barriers within its power to facilitate the recovery and development of the industry.
Last year was the second consecutive year the tourism industry experienced serious negative impacts from the pandemic. Travel agents and businesses faced big losses, with 90-95 stopping operations, changing operational models, and cutting staff, the MCST stated.
In 2021, international tourist arrivals to Vietnam were estimated at 157,300, down 95.9 per cent on-year.
