ACCA and PwC Vietnam signed an MoU on November 22 in Hanoi to collaborate on implementing global standards in Vietnam.

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and PwC Vietnam signed an MoU on November 22 in Hanoi to collaborate on implementing global standards in Vietnam, focusing on green transformation, enhancing sustainability knowledge, and jointly organising training, internships, and research projects.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, To Quoc Hung, country director at ACCA Vietnam, stated Vietnam's commitment to achieving net zero by 2050, stressing that a skilled workforce in this field is crucial and will be a key pillar for businesses undergoing green transformation.

“Recognising this reality, ACCA has researched and introduced the Advanced Professional Certificate in Sustainable Development, which is already popular in over 180 countries, starting from late 2024. This is one of the efforts to equip the Vietnamese workforce with the necessary knowledge and professional skills to meet international standards.”

Hung said that through its partnership with PwC, ACCA will also consider introducing its Sustainability and International Financial Reporting Standards certifications at a professional level to businesses in Vietnam.

“The signing event today marks a significant milestone in strengthening the strategic cooperation between ACCA and PwC Vietnam. Through this partnership, we are committed to sharing international expertise in applying global standards and norms in Vietnam, particularly in the green transition,” said Hung. “We also aim to jointly enhance knowledge on sustainability and green transformation for businesses in Vietnam through collaborative initiatives, including training programmes, internships, conferences, seminars, and joint research projects to foster growth and innovation.”

Speaking on behalf of PwC, Luong Thi Anh Tuyet, deputy CEO of PwC Vietnam, noted that the MoU is evidence of the shared vision between the two organisations to enhance the professional capabilities of the accountancy, audit, and finance sectors.

"Through this collaboration, we aim to leverage the combined strengths of both parties to create more impactful initiatives. This includes joint training programmes, internships, and collaborative research projects in critical areas such as sustainable development, environmental, social, and governance (ESG), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), auditing, risk management, and digital transformation. By tapping into each other's networks and resources, we will support the growth and advancement of the accounting profession in Vietnam.”

From the government representative, Le Viet Anh, director of the Department of Science, Education, Natural Resources, and Environment at the Ministry of Planning and Investment, stated that the cooperation between ACCA and PwC represents a new milestone in the relationship and business operations of the two organisations.

“With the goal of promoting sustainable development in the accounting, audit, and finance sectors in Vietnam, this partnership is a foundational element in achieving ESG goals for businesses and the nation's sustainable development objectives.”

Le Viet Anh further emphasized that accounting, auditing, and finance play an essential role in building a transparent, efficient, and sustainable economy. With global integration and the ongoing digital transformation, the development of high-quality human resources in this field is a critical requirement.

“We hope that through this partnership, ACCA and PwC will jointly implement valuable programmes that bring practical value, not only to the financial professional community but also to the entire economy. This collaboration will also promote transparency, responsibility, and effectiveness in corporate governance, key factors in building a healthy and sustainable business environment,” he added.
