Over 200 participants from 20 countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific region gathered at the summit, centred on the theme ‘Inclusive Entrepreneurship,’ to celebrate and highlight the critical role of young entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds in driving sustainable and equitable economic development and advancing the implementation of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Alternō, a promising climate tech startup in Vietnam, focuses on pioneering sustainable solutions that significantly reduce carbon emissions in the agriculture, industry, and residential heating sectors, and they showcased their innovative solutions at the Youth Co:Lab Summit.
Their solutions are not just about reducing carbon emissions, but also about improving the lives of people in these communities.
Youth Co:Lab, co-created by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Citi Foundation in 2017, is the largest youth movement for empowerment, social entrepreneurship, equality, and social inclusion in Asia Pacific and has supported young people in 28 countries and territories.
In the past year, Youth Co:Lab has supported over 67 young entrepreneurs in Vietnam, resulting in significant outcomes.
The initiative saw a material increase in participants' capacities in leadership, social innovation, and entrepreneurship.
These efforts align with Vietnam’s national development goals and demonstrate the powerful role of youth in driving positive change.
Looking ahead, Youth Co:Lab in Vietnam will strive to foster entrepreneurship, social innovation and inclusivity among Vietnamese youths, accelerating the implementation of SDGs.
In May, the regional 2024 LGBTI+ Youth Innovation Challenge, co-organised by Youth Co:Lab, successfully concluded in Hanoi with a view to fostering youth leadership and supporting innovation initiatives led by young LGBTI+ communities.
The Innovation Challenge received an overwhelming 142 applications in just one week, from which the top 23 startup ideas were selected.
These teams engaged in an intensive bootcamp, equipping them with essential skills to turn their ideas into sustainable social enterprises.
