Can you tell us about the specific activities and outstanding results of the 'TCP Spirit' initiative?

'TCP Spirit' focuses on educating and raising awareness among the younger generation, leading to long-term and positive changes for the environment.

For instance, in Thailand, the 'Nursing The River Basin' scheme has inspired over 100 volunteers to learn about the importance of water resource management in daily life and agriculture. Another meaningful offering under TCP Spirit is 'Doctor Tree in Chiang Mai' which involves close-to-nature outdoor activities and has nurtured the love of plants in hundreds of young people and raised awareness about protecting large trees.

I had the honour of joining TCP Vietnam for a tree-planting ceremony on April 10 as part of the ‘TCP - The Journey for a Green Vietnam’ programme. This was organised by the TCP Group and TCP Vietnam in collaboration with the Centre for Natural Resource and Environmental Communication under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE), along with the Youth Union and the Forest Protection Department of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

How will you implement your environmental strategy in Vietnam?

When planning the 'Green Vietnam' initiative, we conducted research and made adjustments to better suit the Vietnamese market. Accordingly, the project aims to plant 2,700 ironwood trees in the protected forest area of Ba Ria-Vung Tau. At the same time, we are also organising seminars with the participation of representatives from various ministries and sectors to raise awareness about extended producer responsibility (EPR) and achieving net-zero emissions.

I expect that 'Green Vietnam' will serve as a stepping stone for closer cooperation between businesses and relevant agencies as we implement practical initiatives that promote sustainable development.

What are the long-term goals for TCP through these initiatives?

As one of Thailand's top beverage corporations, TCP has consistently focused on sustainable development and actively made positive contributions to the environment. In particular, TCP aims to achieve carbon neutrality in all operational activities by 2050. This includes developing packaging to be fully recyclable, increasing production efficiency, reducing water usage, and replenishing more water for the environment than the company uses in its operation.

Vietnam is one of the most important markets that TCP is currently investing in, so we will continue to demonstrate our values here through local initiatives and commitments to strengthen our long-term development commitment. Moreover, we have conducted research and proactively adjusted our action plan to ensure that our strategy is effectively implemented and has a positive impact.

TCP Vietnam collaborated with the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Vietcycle to deliver a pilot project on collecting, sorting, and recycling packaging, demonstrating the company’s commitment to adhere to requirements for recycling rates and procedures for its products under EPR. This collaboration is one of our most important steps to ensure environmental protection throughout TCP’s operational process.
