As part of its sustainable business development plan, Starbucks Vietnam has partnered with the Gaia Nature Conservation Centre to foster a greener environment, guiding green living practices through the Green Contribution series with various community activities in 2024-2025.

The first venture in the collaboration series was conducted in Phong Dien forest on November 25, where 1,300 trees were planted with the support of forest rangers.

This helps improve the ecological function of nature and is also part of the contribution to the government's drive to plant 1 billion trees, aiming to achieve zero-net emissions by 2050.

"Tree planting is a meaningful and practical activity for the partners of Starbucks Vietnam, demonstrating our spirit and determination to develop a more sustainable future through conservation activities and creating green spaces. Starbucks Vietnam is committed to completing the series of events in the best possible way," said Nguyen Tran Anh Chi, marketing director of Starbucks Vietnam.

The Green Contribution series will continue with activities throughout 2025, next is the tree planting day in Thanh Hoa scheduled for March 2025, with 1,000 trees to be planted in Xuan Lien forest.

In addition, the initiative will include various activities within the company, such as Green Living Days, to provide employees and the community with further information about 'green' methods in daily life.

Huyen Do, director of the Gaia Nature Conservation Centre, said, "With expertise and years of experience in forest restoration at the water source, we plan to plant, care for, and monitor forests closely to ensure a survival rate of 70-85 per cent."

"For the Green Living Days, we not only provide information about the benefits of living green but also inspire and offer useful suggestions through interactive activities, games, and markets so that everyone can practice and contribute to maintaining Starbucks' green culture," she added.

Starbucks also implemented various environmental and social programmes this year while collaborating with organisations such as the Gaia Nature Conservation Centre, FoodBank Vietnam, and the global clean water organisation - Planet Water Foundation (PWF).

In 2025, Starbucks will continue to partner with these organisations in many new projects alongside current programmes.

Specifically with Foodbank Vietnam, in addition to enhancing food waste prevention schemes, Starbucks will utilise food waste by recycling coffee grounds to support the upcoming 'Food Bank Garden' model. Starbucks' goal is to make positive contributions to society through environmental protection programmes as well as other social undertakings.

The company also hopes that customers will come together to contribute to sustainable development projects and programmes. One initiative that Starbucks has been implementing for many years is offering customers who bring their own personal cup a discount of VND10,000 ($0.42) for each water cup they purchase.
