Stunning and spectacular parades at Hue Festival 2020

Hue Festival 2020 will feature a spectacular Ao Dai Show

Themed "Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development – Hue: Always Something New to Discover", Hue Festival 2020 promises to offer visitors some exciting experiences with unique performances.

The Grand Opening Ceremony will be held at Ngo Mon Square, followed by Street Parades throughout the festival, along with the street performances of various art troupes. This year's Street Parades will honour the national traditional clothing through exhibitions and performances of traditional costumes and typical dances of ASEAN member countries. The parades will also include a procession of Tuong Hue masks – a special form of makeup art with a long history that flourished under the Nguyen Dynasty – as well as Thua Thien-Hue folk culture combined with the river procession of Mau (Holy Mother) as part of the Hue Nam Temple Festival.

During the festival, visitors can also enjoy the cuisine-fest entitled “Hue – Capital of Gastronomy” at Thuong Bac Park. Trinh Cong Son’s Music Concert, themed "Hue Diary: Hue is my lover, my dream", will take place on August 30 at the Noon Gate stage, presenting the musical heritage of timeless musician Trinh Cong Son. The concert brings together famous artists whose names are attached to the songs of Trinh Cong Son as well as the young artists whose innovative styles are enthusiastically welcomed by the public.

The programme "Who named the river" will take place on August 31 at Nghenh Luong Dinh, an art show that took inspiration from historical information about the poetic Huong River, once again revealing the mysteries of Hue and the Huong River.

The Electronic Dance Music (EDM) Festival at Tu Do (Liberty) Stadium will offer a party of sound and light for young people and followers of electronic music. Another highly-anticipated event is the Closing Ceremony – Ao Dai Show on September 2 at Ngo Mon Square to wrap up Hue Festival 2020 and honour beauty and affirm the value and role of the Ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress) in daily life, with collections by famous designers from Hue, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City.

Former UNESCO director general Amadou Matar M'Bow, during his visit to Hue, once remarked, "Hue is a poem about marvellous urban architecture and is the city of entire harmony".

Discovering Hue is an endless discovery, therefore, the slogan "Hue: Always Something New to Discover" has been chosen to reflect the endless vitality of Hue's cultural values as well as its attraction and restless innovation.

During the best time of the year to visit Hue, Thua Thien-Hue province will offer free-of-charge visits to all Hue monuments for visitors during the six-day festival.
