This is the fifth consecutive year when Shinhan Bank holds the Charity Bike Run, a community event where Shinhan Bank offer disadvantaged students with means of transport for their upcoming school year.
The highlight of this activity was that Shinhan Bank staff took their turn to ride these bicycles themselves from a designed location to meet with these students at another assigned point, around 6 kilometers far from the starting location.
The direct involvement of Shinhan Bank staff was for them to make individual contributions together with the bank to bring joys to these children.
On Shinhan Bank’s 2018 Charity Bike Run, 70 new bikes was given to unprivileged students at a primary school in Duc Hoa district and 90 new bikes was given to students at Tan Cuong commune, Vinh Phuc.
These bikes valued totally at nearly VND 400 million ($17,560) were awarded at warmly and friendly ceremonies at Duc Hoa Culture Centre and office of People’s Committee of Tan Cuong Commune.
Shin Dong Min, CEO of Shinhan Bank, said about this activity, “Giving bikes to underprivileged students on Charity Bike Run Day is one of our annual meaningful corporate social responsibility activities. We hope that with each bike granted in this program will fuel the energy and encouragement to another student to keep going on his/her study journey”.

My new high school is around 7 kilometers far from my home and I was too worried about how I could go to school. Fortunately, you supported me a new bike and I am very happy. Just a few months from now for me to begin new school year but with this new bike, I can go to school faster and less tiring than normal.”
Shinhan Bank’s corporate social responsibility efforts focus on the support of the local communities where the Bank locates. Besides “Charity Bike Run”, Shinhan Bank has hold other annual charity projects for underprivileged people in rural areas every Lunar New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival. Shinhan Bank hopes to sustain and expand similar efforts in the future to improve the lives of more disadvantaged people in our community.
