SEOUL: South Korean police have begun investigations after singer EunB of K-pop girl group Ladies’ Code died in a car crash early on Wednesday (Sep 3). Two other members, Rise and Sojung, are said to be receiving treatment for serious injuries.

Yonhap News said police are looking into whether the 27-year-old driver, only known by his surname Park, was speeding when the incident happened.

According to a statement from record label Polaris Entertainment, Ladies’ Code, their manager and stylists were heading to Seoul from Daegu after an event.

“Around 1.30am in Suwon, the car that Ladies’ Code had been riding in experienced a problem and the back wheel came off… the car spun several times before hitting a guard rail,” said Polaris, which manages the five-member group.

Polaris added that the other passengers in the car did not have major injuries. The driver’s condition is not known.

MTV reported that Rise is in critical condition, while Metro said Sojung underwent surgery for a bone fracture. Bandmates Zuny and Ashley are said to be undergoing treatment for shock.

Polaris said EunB's funeral will be held on Friday (Sep 5).
