The typhoon is forecast to develop from a tropical depression and enter the central region of Philippines on Wednesday night.

If it moves through Palawan Island of the Philippines and enters the East Sea, it will become the ninth typhoon to hit Vietnam this year.

Downpours will focus on coastal provinces from Quang Tri to Binh Thuan with total amount of up to 300-500mm. The highest volume of rain is predicted to fall between Friday and next Wednesday.

According to the centre, the typhoon’s direction and power is hard to predict as the typhoon might interact with a cold spell predicted to hit the northern region Wednesday night.

The combination of the typhoon and cold spell could allow the wind speeds to reach 75-120km per hour when it enters Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago, the centre said.

The cold spell that will hit northern region on Wednesday evening will lower the temperature to 17-19 degrees Celsius. Rain is predicted to come with the cold spell in northern and central localities.
