The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) has handed over dozens of thousands of N95 face masks to frontline medical staff fighting against COVID-19 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Today (August 30, 2021) the MPI presented 12,800 face masks valued at $16,452 to Ho Chi Minh City's Department of Health to deliver to 13 local hospitals.

Members of the Vietnam Innovation Network under the management of the MPI's National Innovation Center is also presenting 40,000 masks at a total value of $32,000 to 58 hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City and two ones in Binh Duong province.

The donations are all part of the MPI's Stay Strong Saigon programme to deliver 80,000 masks to Ho Chi Minh City.

Nguyen Thi Toai, head of the MPI's southern office said, "This is a practical activity of the Vietnam Innovation Network, especially experts in the US Silicon Valley and Singapore to contribute to frontline fighting and people dealing with the health crisis."

Earlier, the MPI provided 1,600 N95 face masks to the Ministry of Health's Trade Union to deliver to medical staff in all southern cities and provinces, as well as 1,500 face masks to Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi.
