Prof. Raymond Gordon, BUV vice chancellor and president said, "BUV's mission is to develop kind graduates who care for people and the environment. They will be multiskilled, able to work in multiple sectors, and have a creative mindset."
In particular, the two Lion Heart Scholarships of 2023 – which aim to encourage and help students with difficult family circumstances or those facing physical or health issues to overcome barriers, strive for excellence, and inspire those around them – have already given to Vi Thanh Nhat and Do Ngoc Anh. Each scholarship is worth VND1 billion ($43,500), supporting the entire tuition bill for an English preparatory course, a university preparatory course, and a bachelor programme, along with the living expenses to cover the time spent at BUV.
Nguyen Anh Tung, who has just received one of these BUV scholarships, told VIR that he is incredibly happy and honoured.
"I have tried my best and was lucky enough to be selected for the scholarship, which will significantly reduce the monetary pressure on my family. I believe that BUV will give me the skills to work and succeed in the future," said Tung.

Le Nhat Nam, the British Ambassador's Scholarship Winner 2020, said that he is no longer the same person he was. He said he used to be very shy when he first set foot on this campus.
"Through my experiences here, I have discovered my independence, found my voice, and began my journey towards becoming a leader. BUV has something for everyone. So if you are looking for a place to grow, learn, and thrive, BUV is the place for you," said Nam.
Officially established in 2018, the BUV Scholarship and Financial Aid Fund's mission is to provide the opportunity to study UK undergraduate and graduate programmes in an international-standard educational environment in Vietnam. It trains excellent bachelors who will be respected and builds their character. Students will also develop their language abilities and interdisciplinary work skills, learn to think creatively, and build confidence and humility as they constantly grow as young adults.
At the same time, BUV is constantly improving the quality of training and its student support system. In early 2023, it became the first and only university in Vietnam and the ASEAN region, and one of only 22 universities outside the UK, to achieve QAA accreditation as an independent educational institution.
The QAA is an independent higher education quality body that is responsible for ensuring the standards of UK universities and higher education institutions around the world. BUV is also the first and only higher education institution in Vietnam to be certified with a comprehensive 5-star QS Stars standard based on criteria including training quality, facilities, and job opportunities for students.
