The University of London (UoL) International Foundation Programme (IFP) is one of the most widely accepted foundation programmes in the world.

The IFP is delivered by one of UoL's 120 recognised teaching centres, providing students with the knowledge, skills, and experience they need to gain direct entry into an international undergraduate degree course at a range of universities in the UK and around the world.

The main advantage of the programme is the reduced time and cost as students only take one year to complete the course.

Vietnamese students used to have to go to Singapore or the UK to study foundation programmes. However, they can now study the IFP at the British University Vietnam (BUV).

BUV is the only educational institution recognised by UoL for teaching the IFP in Vietnam.

Students who have completed the programme at BUV can choose to study abroad or go on to study for the Bachelor of Science in Banking and Finance degree at BUV, which is also awarded by the University of London.

At BUV, students are required to study three compulsory course modules, that is Accounting, Mathematics and Statistics, and Economics, and one optional module selected from Pure Mathematics, International Relations, and Business Administration.

At the end of the programme, the students will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and learning methods required to gain direct entry to undergraduate degrees and quickly adapt to international university environments all around the world.

The essential skills that students are trained to develop during the programme include critical thinking and the ability to evaluate a subject from different perspectives. These skills are not only helpful to students while studying at university but are also a valuable asset for them on their future journey through life.

Hoang Tien Dat, IFP alumni said, “I didn't know much about economics, accounting, or industrial relations before I did the IFP, but after a year of studying, I have gained an understanding of teaching and study methods. The IFP really helped me to build a firm grounding so that I can move forward.”

Having attended the Cambridge IGCSE programme at Nguyen Sieu High School, Dat found that studying the IFP programme at BUV was the next step on his learning path to achieve his academic goals. Dat is now studying the Bachelor of Science in Banking and Finance programme awarded by the University of London at BUV.
