Jobs at the ready for scholarship students |
The annual charity golf tournament is ready to tee off on October 21, aiming to bring hope and opportunity to talented students in hardship across the country.
The upcoming event has received enthusiastic support from benefactors including BRG Group and co-organiser SeABank. The sponsors include Samsung Electronics Vietnam, Vingroup, Kinderworld, Sun Group, BRG Group’s Bob Parsons Foundation, Vietnam Beverages, SABECO, CONINCO, PetroVietnam, among others.
Along with financial contributions to the tournament’s scholarship fund, many benefactors hope to create links with each other to provide job opportunities for these students after graduation.
Pham Minh Thu, general manager at Pegasus International College Vietnam said, “This is the 10th year that we have been a gold sponsor for this event as well as providing assistance to students related to training in the hospitality sector. This summer, we organised a training course for 10 students in hardship, and hey will be awarded the elementary certificate in October, which will be a good start for them.”
Pegasus International College was established in 2015 in Danang. The college is a member of the Kinderworld International Group, Singapore. The college provides high-quality vocational education training programmes in hospitality and business for students graduating from junior high school or higher in Vietnam.
Currently, the college focuses on training in hotel and restaurant administration; business administration; marketing; human resources; and accounting/finance for pupils in Danang, Quang Nam, Nha Trang, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and neighbouring provinces.
The Pegasus network of 5-star hotel general managers ensures that students are placed for internships at prominent properties. Graduates are in demand and offered employment on completion of their programme of study – many are also offered part-time employment while studying – such is the demand for their ability.
“With the training facilities across the country and diversified training sectors, Pegasus is willing to co-operate with benefactors of VIR’s golf charity tournament to open up more opportunities for students,” Thu said.
Vietnam Beverage Co., Ltd. and MM Mega Market also want to drive forward the humanitarian aims of the tournament.
Tran Kim Nga, chief executive of Vietnam Beverage said, “Along with financial assistance, we need to create an environment so that students can start a career. For example, Vietnam Beverage can receive interns who study at Pegasus’s training facilities. If they are suitable and have the ability, we will offer official jobs to them.”
“In addition, we also provide soft-skill training programmes for students at vocational training facilities. They will work directly at MM Mega Market supermarkets and learn a wide range of subjects of skills and butchering People often think that these skills are simple, but in reality they need to be trained methodically. Our supermarkets often notice recruitment information for these positions.”
Giving life-changing work opportunities to students in hardship is the long-term activity of these businesses.
“Organising training courses for disadvantaged students is a part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR). We also work with centres for social protection and the division of labour, invalids, and social affairs in districts to select well-study students but poor to join training courses,” added Thu of Pegasus International College.
During Pegasus course, students put their skills into practising on using the latest equipment and facilities in an international learning environment. They learnt not only basic knowledge and skills to organise and prepare various Vietnamese dishes in a commercial kitchen, but also practical and employment-related skills to meet the specific demands of the hospitality industry. The scheme is aimed at supporting successful students in seeking job opportunities upon completion of the course.
Meanwhile, from 2020, MM Mega Market Vietnam has focused on investing in human resource training activities and sees this as a central goal through the Career Reach scholarship project. It is also implementing activities to join hands with the community in parallel to improve the environmental situation and improve the quality of health and social security.
MM Mega Market Vietnam often signs MoUs and sponsors scholarships for students of universities in Danang, Nha Trang, and Dong Nai. These scholarships are awarded to multiple talented students, which provide soft-skills courses and create opportunities for students to intern and become official employees at MM Mega Market after graduation.

Nguyen Chi Dung - Minister of Planning and Investment People should be the goals and beneficiaries of development, so all the policies and activities should benefit them. Therefore, in addition to building policies, the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) has been promoting the spirit of pride in Vietnam, and the programme for the community development. The MPI has officially been sponsoring eight disadvantaged groups over the last five years. Since 2019, we launched the White Cane Journey for the blind in Vietnam. A series of campaigns like Vietnam Vitality, Vietnam Vastness, and Vietnam Love were organised, contributing to developing a humane culture and kind lifestyle. Additionally, numerous volunteer and charitable activities were launched by the MPI over the last years, including upgrading 500 temporary houses in border communes in Son La province’s Sop Cop district; supporting Bac Can and Cao Bang provinces to build houses for the poor households; and building lighting and sound for Truong Son National Martyrs Cemetery. I really appreciate the VIR’s Swing for the Kids funding scholarships for poor students across the country, which is absolutely in accordance with the style of the MPI. Such works have been contributing to fostering and forming a humanistic culture in all the ministry and beyond. The spirit of understanding and sharing has had a positive impact on policy advisory work. |
