In its 17th iteration, the Swing for the Kids 2024 charity golf tournament drew hundreds of golfers, who engaged in the competition and lent their support to underprivileged students.

Hosted by Vietnam Investment Review, the annual Swing for the Kids charity golf tournamen officially launched its 17th season on the morning of October 12 at the Kings Course and Mountain View of Kings Island Golf Resort in Dong Mo, Son Tay, Hanoi. This year's tournament reaffirms VIR's commitment to support underprivileged students and also serves as a gathering point for golf-lovers.

The tournament's opening ceremony took place successfully, drawing the participation of nearly 250 golfers from both domestic and international diplomatic agencies, alongside a diverse array of organisations

During the ceremony, Le Trong Minh, VIR’s editor-in-chief, announced that the 2024 tournament had raised an impressive $92,000, thanks to the generosity of sponsors and the enthusiastic involvement of participants.

“The scholarships provided through this initiative would not only help these children overcome immediate hardships but also cultivate optimism in their lives, highlighting the kindness and support that still exists in the world,” Minh said. “These scholarships represent hope and opportunity, showing that there are caring individuals ready to lend a hand."

Over the past 17 years, the organising committee has raised more than $880,000 and enabled the distribution of thousand scholarships to deserving students. The funds have also supported the repair and upgrade of educational facilities in 40 cities and provinces across the country.

This year, in addition to providing annual scholarships for academically gifted underprivileged students, funds raised through the Swing for the Kids charity golf tournament will be prioritised for the reconstruction of schools and support for students in areas affected by Typhoon Yagi.

Tran Kim Nga, general director of Vietnam Beverage Co., Ltd., a long-term sponsor of the Swing for the Kids tournament, expressed her confidence in the event’s mission.

“We believe that the tournament and the scholarship programme are managed with professionalism and transparency,” Nga said. “As a member of the organising committee for several years, I also appreciate the tournament’s long-term vision, which focuses on expanding both the scope and forms of support.”

Nga emphasised that supporting education aligns with Vietnam Beverage’s key social responsibility initiatives. “Contributing to Swing for the Kids remains an essential part of our annual plan,” she added.
