Vietnam Investment Review’s Swing for the Kids 2024 charity golf tournament is set to kick off on October 12, continuing its mission to empower the dreams of Vietnam's future generations.

Swing for the Kids 2024 charity golf tournament will officially take place at 7.00am on October 12 on two courses, Kings Course and Mountain View, at Kings Island Golf Resort in Dong Mo, Son Tay, Hanoi.

This marks the 17th year of the Swing for the Kids charity golf tournament, dedicated to raising scholarship funds for talented underprivileged students across Vietnam. Since its inception in 2007, Swing for the Kids has gained a reputation for providing scholarship support for hundreds of disadvantaged students and upgrading learning facilities.

At the gala awards ceremony for the golf tournament on October 12, the Organising Committee will present five full scholarships of VND10 million ($402) each to students from the University of Transport and Communications and the Academy of Policy and Development.

The Organising Committee shared that, alongside annual scholarships for disadvantaged students demonstrating exceptional academic performance, this year's proceeds from the charity golf tournament will focus on reconstructing schools and aiding students impacted by Typhoon Yagi.

Over the past 16 years, the Swing for the Kids charity golf tournament has raised over VND22 billion ($880,000) to deliver more than 21,000 scholarships to underprivileged students who excel in their studies, and to support the repair and upgrade of educational facilities in 40 cities and provinces across the country.

Highlighting the significance of the golf tournament, Vo Hong Phuc, former Minister of Planning and Investment and president of the Swing for the Kids annual charity golf tournament, said, “Swing for the Kids has created valuable opportunities for foreign investors, diplomats, and domestic businesses to foster better understanding among all parties. This tournament also serves as a vital platform for raising funds to support underprivileged students, thanks to the generous contributions from the business community and compassionate investors.”

“This collaboration aligns with the growing emphasis on corporate social responsibility among businesses and entrepreneurs. From its inception, the golf tournament has garnered support from leaders, managers, and companies, reflecting its practical and humanitarian importance,” Phuc remarked.

To fulfil its commitment to supporting disadvantaged Vietnamese youth, VIR will connect sponsors with specific initiatives aimed at providing scholarships and resources to enhance educational opportunities.

In 2024, Swing for the Kids receives strong support from co-organisers BRG Group and SeABank. Samsung Electronics Vietnam remains a long-time diamond sponsor, while Vingroup is the platinum sponsor. Kinderworld International Group and Vietnam Oil and Gas Group continue as gold sponsors, with Vietnam Beverage Co., Ltd., VINAMIKA Vietnam Co., Ltd., and EveryGolf JSC as silver sponsors. In addition, Swing for the Kids 2024 features Vinfast, GolfGroup, and GolfBeer as Hole-in-One sponsors.
