Swing for the Kids 2024, held at the Kings Island Golf Resort in Hanoi, raised VND2.3 billion in sponsorships from generous donors and over 250 golfers, including diplomats, business leaders, and foreign investors.
At the gala ceremony, six full scholarships worth VND10 million ($402) each were awarded to students from the University of Transport and Communications and the Academy of Policy and Development.
The organising board also extended support to students affected by Typhoon Yagi and donated VND200 million ($8,300) to a fund under the Vietnam Association for Learning Promotion.

Highlighting the impact of the scholarships, Le Trong Minh, editor-in-chief of VIR and head of the Organising Board, said, “These funds alleviate immediate financial burdens and sow seeds of optimism, showing these young minds that kindness and generosity exist in the world.”
Do Thi Hue, one of the recipients of the Swing for the Kids 2024 scholarships, shared her feelings upon receiving the scholarship for the first time. “My family has been profoundly impacted by Typhoon Yagi since September, which has made it increasingly difficult to cover my tuition fees. This scholarship will help pay for my education and support my family during this challenging time.”
For Bui Thi Xuan Mai, a third-year student at the University of Transport and Communications, this was her second scholarship from Swing for the Kids. With her parents working hard as farmers to support three children, she told VIR, “Starting this year, my parents won’t need to send me money any more because the golf tournament scholarship will cover many of my tuition fees.”
Since its inception in 2007, the annual charity golf tournament Swing for the Kids has raised over VND22 billion ($886,000), benefiting more than 21,000 students and supporting educational infrastructure improvements across 40 cities and provinces.
