Head of the Jakarta Environment Office Asep Kuswanto has said that every household will be subject to a garbage tariff from January 1, 2025.

He explained that the administration has been preparing for this policy in alignment with Jakarta Regional Regulation No. 1 of 2024 concerning Regional Taxes and Levies.

Under this regulation, the waste disposal service levy will be based on electricity usage. Households using 450 to 900 volt-amps (VA) will be exempt from the levy, while those using 1,300 to 2,200 VA will pay 10,000 IDR (0.7 USD) per month.

The monthly charge for those using 3,500 to 5,500 VA will be 30,000 IDR, and those using more than 6,600 VA will be charged 77,000 IDR.This policy also applies to companies as commercial areas must also engage in waste processing.
