International School Ho Chi Minh City (ISHCMC) held its 30th Anniversary Gala Event on December 2, a momentous occasion commemorating three decades of educational excellence and innovation.

The 30th Anniversary Gala featured a night of entertainment, heartfelt speeches, and a chance for the ISHCMC community to come together in a spirit of unity and celebration. The event showcased the school's commitment to its core values and its vision for the future and brought together current and former members of staff, esteemed alumni, and friends of the school for a night of celebration and reflection.

Founded in 1993 as the first international school in Ho Chi Minh City, ISHCMC has been a beacon of education in Vietnam, shaping the minds and futures of generations of students and earning the distinction of being the First International Baccalaureate (IB) World School in Ho Chi Minh City accredited to offer all three IB programmes.

Previously named the 'International Grammar School' and with a founding class of roughly 20 students, the school was established to provide high-quality education to children of expatriate families in the city. From these humble beginnings, the school has now grown to 1,500 students and is a renowned international institution known for its commitment to academic excellence, a diverse and inclusive community, and a passion for fostering global citizenship and individual identities.

ISHCMC has continually embraced innovation in education, providing students with a world-class learning experience. The school has consistently adapted to the evolving needs of its students, incorporating technology and global perspectives into its curriculum.

Reflecting on the school's journey, Kim Green, head of school SHCMC, said, "Over the past 30 years, ISHCMC has been an established leader in internationally minded, holistic education and has set the foundations for its community to continue thriving into the future."

“As a community, we have travelled through time together. We have witnessed, been connected to, and been a part of significant personal, local, national, and global events in which we as a community have been able to celebrate together and share joy on many occasions, at other times we have cried and leaned on each other for support and courage,” Green said.

Distinguished ISHCMC alumnus, Hippolyte Genet, remarked, "The sense of community and support I experienced at the school has left a lasting impact on my life, and I am honoured to celebrate this milestone with fellow alumni and the current ISHCMC community."

The event included exciting charity auction sessions, with all funds raised being donated to ISHCMC's charity partner, Saigonchildren, to support disadvantaged children and provide them with access to education and a chance for a brighter future.

This follows past fundraising efforts such as ISHCMC’s Sustainable Festive Bazaar in 2022, where $5,000 was raised for Saigonchildren's 'Build a School' scheme.

As part of the celebrations, ISHCMC is offering families interested in joining their wonderful community a chance to experience the school first-hand at their upcoming Open House on December 13.

During the Open House, visitors can explore the campus, witness teachers in action, and gain insight into the holistic education ISHCMC provides.
