Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Pham Anh Tuan on July 19 had a virtual meeting with Kazunori Sudo, general director of Hitachi Asia Vietnam. Departments of the ministry and VNPost attended the event.

During the meeting, the representative of Hitachi Asia Vietnam reported to the deputy minister about the company's operations and contributions to the local society, applications for digital transformation, and the possibilities of cooperating with Vietnam and the corporation's e-money project with VNPost in the coming time.

Vietnam and Japan partner in state management in information and communications. A number of agreements between the countries were signed to promote ties in the fields of e-government, digital transformation, post, and smart cities, among others.

In the postal finance segment, VNPost co-operates with Hitachi and Sumitomo Mitsui (SMBC) in deploying the e-money project, with the first stage focusing on consultancy, building and deployment of IT in the payment of retirement salary and social welfare.

In the upcoming time, the two sides will continue to cooperate in piloting the scheme on building a database for social security codes for the northern province of Vinh Phuc, and then extend the model for nationwide deployment.

Tuan said that the Ministry of Information and Communications always supports cooperation between Hitachi and Vietnam, particularly with VNPost. He highlighted the importance of the e-money project and the pilot on building a national database for social security codes.

Tuan proposed Hitachi and VNPost to take initiative in implementing co-operation projects to ensure the schedule, thus meeting the requirements of Vietnam’s digital transformation programme in the new development era.

“The MIC supports Hitachi in expanding the e-money project in Vietnam,” he noted.
