The Cold Chain Park is a major project courting special attention from the Chinese government and promoted by the local government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Thirty major enterprises signed contracts at the event.

The project is developed and run by Guangxi Supply Chain Service Group, under Guangxi Modern Logistics Group.

The Cold Chain Park is located in the High-tech Industrial Zone of Fangchenggang, a border city close to Vietnam.

The Cold Chain Park is a major project courting special attention from the Chinese government and promoted by the local government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

With the logistics, processing, and trade of agricultural products as the core, it boasts warehousing, trade, distribution, processing, multimodal transport, and supply chain finance.

With a total investment of about $600 million and a total area of about 178,500sq.m, the construction features three phases. Among them, phase one covers about 59,500sq.m, with a total investment of $189.1 million and a cold storage capacity of 150,000 tonnes.

After reaching the designed production capacity, it can offer an annual storage and processing capacity of 200,000 tonnes of fresh food. After the completion of phase three, the capacity would surpass 600,000 tonnes.

All ports in Fangchenggang city can be reached within a radius of 15 kilometres. Relying on the aquatic resources in the fishing port economic zone of coastal cities in the Pan Beibu Gulf and Fangchenggang’s land-sea two-way cold chain channels and ports, it can connect the vast markets in ASEAN, Europe, and China and build a comprehensive large-scale cold chain logistics service platform.

The Cold Chain Park can help attract more fresh products from ASEAN countries, such as fruits and aquatic products, to enter China through the ports of Fangchenggang, and reduce the loss of perishable goods through cold-chain warehousing, transportation, and processing, before sending them to Chinese markets leveraging fast and convenient cold chain channels.

China aims to upscale the import of agricultural produce from ASEAN. Vietnam, connecting with Fangchenggang city by sea and land, is China’s largest trading partner in ASEAN and the sixth-largest trading partner in the world.

The volume of bilateral trade between China and Vietnam has been expanding steadily, and regional and global trade agreements promise multiple opportunities for the development of the cold chain industry and trade-in goods cooperation between China and ASEAN.

At present, the Cold Chain Park is calling on leading businesses like Shandong Zhongxin Group, JD.com, and SF to do business at the park. After reaching cooperation, the contractual area aims to cover 90 per cent of the park’s space, accommodating a processing centre, a cold storage warehouse, and an exhibition and trade centre, among others.

The opening ceremony attracted more than 220 people to the site.
