On September 29, Generali Vietnam, in collaboration with the National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC) and the Dien Bien Department of Labour, War Invalids, and Social Affairs, launched a new kitchen and celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival with the children at Ban Mai Kindergarten in Dien Bien Dong district.

This project is part of Generali Vietnam's community initiatives to bring a better life for Vietnamese children. The budget for the project comes from the company’s annual fundraising initiative. The offering raised funds for the building of a kitchen and other auxiliary facilities for 81 disadvantaged children in Dien Bien.

Over VND250 million ($10,264) from the donation has been transferred to the NFVC to build a fully equipped new kitchen, including utensils, a covered dining area, and a new water tank, for children in the remote village of Xa Dung B.

It is home to 81 children from the Thai and Hmong ethnic groups, and the teachers there dream of being able to offer nutritious meals for the children, with a new tank to store clean water.

Thanks to the partnership between Generali Vietnam and the NFVC, the Bep am cho em programme is being implemented with the hope of contributing to bringing more delicious, cleaner, and better quality meals to the children there.

Alongside the building of the kitchen, Generali Vietnam has also implemented other meaningful activities, such as granting 10,000 free meals to the children at Ban Mai kindergarten, and its staff and agents have participated in donating books and toys.

During the launch ceremony, volunteers prepared a full lunch and celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival with the children. There were many engaging activities, such as a magic show, games, lion dancing, moon cake eating, and more. With the gifts, Generali Vietnam hopes the children can enjoy a warm and fulfilling Mid-Autumn Festival.

In September, Generali Vietnam also started the construction of the Dong Dong branch school of Son Ca kindergarten in Quang Tri province, marking another heart-warming project on Generali Vietnam's journey of extending love to children.

The project uses funds from Generali Vietnam's Suc khoe trao minh – Truong moi trao em campaign within the framework of The Human Safety Net's Global Challenge 2023.

Since its launch in June, this community initiative has raised nearly VND527 million ($21,638), of which VND500 million ($20,529) was sent to the NFVC to build and renovate schools for disadvantaged children from the Bru Van Kieu ethnic minority at Dong Dong branch school.

Dong Dong hamlet faces a range of economic challenges. Every day, 72 children ranging from 24 months to five years old attend classes in less-than-ideal conditions due to a shortage of classrooms. Teachers and students have to share rooms, often moving between indoor and outdoor locations and studying in a temporary storage room on rainy days or a covered yard on sunny days.

With funding from Generali Vietnam, the construction of classrooms and auxiliary items will take place, helping to overcome the inadequacies when organising both educational and recreational activities.

This is the third key project for which Generali Vietnam, in collaboration with the NFVC, has conducted fundraising since 2022.

Dinh Tien Hai, director of the NFVC remarked, “With the fund's mission of serving as a compassionate bridge to connect donors with children in difficult circumstances, we are pleased to have essential construction projects sponsored by Generali Vietnam quickly accomplished and put into operation to support needy children across the country. Hopefully, Generali Vietnam and the NFVC will continue to enhance this partnership to promote care, protection, and education for Vietnamese children.”

The representative of Generali Vietnam said that its strategic community agenda has been developed on the foundation of practicality, sustainability, and the engagement of staff, agents, and the broader community.

The extensive reach and enthusiastic support for the Bep am cho em programme is a strong testament to the values that Generali Vietnam pursues on its journey of trying to become a lifetime partner to millions of Vietnamese families.

In recognition of the company’s proactive and sustainable contribution, Generali has been awarded the prestigious Saigon Times Corporate Social Responsibility certification for three consecutive years.

Generali Vietnam also received organisational and individual commendations from the Minister of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs in 2020 and 2021, recognising its outstanding contributions to Vietnamese children’s wellbeing and protection.
