Generali Vietnam Life Insurance LLC launched an online community programme to support families with young children during social distancing due to COVID-19. The programme provides useful “parenting in times of stress” content, developed by University of Oxford’s Parenting for Lifelong Health initiative (PHL), in collaboration with UNICEF, the World Health Organization (WHO), and other international organisations. Generali Group’s The Human Safety Net (THSN) foundation has supported the creation of this unique collection of parenting tips and advice by adapting more than 2,000 pieces of content in over 20 different languages.

Specifically, amidst the COVID-19 emergency and ramped up social distancing measures, the programme provides practical parenting tips and advice covering 16 different topics such as “Parenting during COVID-19”, “Create a happy environment in a small space”, “Family harmony at home”, “Anger management advice”, “Keeping children safe online”, “Quality time”, and “Looking after oneself”, among others.

In Vietnam, Generali’s staff and agent volunteers joined hands to help build and adapt the programme’s parenting content into Vietnamese, promote these materials on social media and digital channels during their own work-from-home period to help extend the reach of the programme’s useful information to local parents and caregivers.

Generali’s staff and agents also actively share their parenting experience during the pandemic, as well as how to handle various work from home situations

Generali Vietnam also leveraged and embedded useful parenting content from the credible community education programme “Sinh Con, Sinh Cha” to supplement and enrich parenting resources, thereby offering greater benefits to parents during the pandemic.

Tina Nguyen, Generali Vietnam CEO, shared: “I am very pleased that many Generali volunteers globally including Vietnam’s continue to demonstrate their innovative and human touch behaviours and take prompt action to timely implement a practical online community initiative amidst the evolving Covid-19 situation across the globe. I hope that this programme can help alleviate the stress and concerns of many Vietnamese families so we can navigate the pandemic steadily and with great optimism all together.”

The online community initiative is a continuation of Generali’s efforts aimed at supporting Vietnam’s COVID-19 emergency. In June, Generali successfully launched the fundraising initiative “Stepping across Vietnam – Spreading the wings of love”, contributing VND1.5 billion ($65,220) to support Vietnam’s COVID-19 response in the most impacted provinces as well as the Vietnamese government’s vaccine fund. Other COVID-19 initiatives successfully implemented by Generali include providing medical equipment to frontline hospitals, offering special financial support for staff, agents, and customers unfortunately infected with COVID-19, as well as supporting the community music project “Việt Nam ơi! Đánh bay Covid!” (Vietnam! Fight off COVID!) sponsored by Vietnam’s Ministry of Health.

In 2020, Generali Group created an Extraordinary International Fund of up to €100 million ($117.2 million)dedicated to the fight against the COVID-19 emergency on an international level, in Italy and 50 countries where Generali operates.
