First Vietnam-EU direct cargo train begins operation from July 20
Ratraco has launched the first Vietnam-EU direct cargo train

The cargo container train departs from Yen Vien Station in Hanoi and will call at Liege city of Belgium before arriving at Rotterdam city of the Netherlands.

The train will have 23 40-foot containers carrying a variety of goods like textile and garments as well as footwear. The total transportation time is 25-27 days.

Amidst the serious development of COVID-19 and the challenges in transportation by sea, railway freight transportation is emerging as a reliable alternative to export goods from Vietnam to the EU.

At present, Ratraco and its EU partners are working on plans to operate eight trains each month from Vietnam.

As planned, the second container cargo train will depart Yen Vien on July 27, carrying electronics products. The third train will depart on August 3.
