EVNNPT in solid position after 15 years

On June 1, EVNNPT celebrated its 15th anniversary. Since its establishment, the company has ably operated the electrical grid safely, making an important contribution to the socioeconomic development of Vietnam, and ensuring the country's national security.

Vietnam's power grid was established in 1992. One of the most important milestones was the construction of Line Circuit 1, a 500kV north-south transmission line that began operating in May 1994.

The line greatly improved the safety and reliability of the power supply for the national power system and the key economic areas of the country, serving as the model for the future development of Circuits 2 and 3, among others.

In the face of urgent reforms to Vietnam's economy, EVNNPT was established in July 2008 with the mission of ensuring a stable power supply for the country to meet its growing needs.

Since then, the company has made concerted efforts to expand the national power transmission system. The total length of 220kV and 500kV power lines has increased almost 2.5-fold to 29,431km, serviced by 185 substations.

The company has also applied digital transformation to its systems. So far, 117 of the 148 220kV substations have remote control systems installed. All data from the power transmission grid has been digitised on the PMIS technical management platform, which is connected to the metering data collection and management system.

During the past 15 years, the company’s transmission power volume has reached 2,180 billion killowatt hours, with an average annual growth rate of 7.74 per cent.

Furthermore, the company is implementing its Development Strategy to 2025, with a vision for 2040, as well as its digital transformation plan to 2025, with the vision to 2040.
