Diwali lights up the night in the capital

Over the years, Diwali Night has become a permanent fixture in the Hanoi’s cultural calendar, strengthening every year. Diwali or Deepavali (Festival of Lights) is one of the biggest festivals in India. It is celebrated as the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance.

This year, to continue the tradition, the Indian Business Chamber in Hanoi held Diwali Night 2023 on December 2, hoping to bring a glimpse of the colourful and joyful spirit from one of the biggest festivals from India. Many symbolic activities involving Indian culture, cuisine, musical performances, national dance performances, henna artists, and face painting as a feature of the event.

On top of that was exclusive performances by Antariksh, a multi-award-winning Indian pop rock act based out of Delhi. Founded in 2012, Antariksh has collaborated with former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman on their critically acclaimed song Quest, and won Best Rock Song at the Artist Aloud Independent Music Awards 2022 and Best Rock Artist of 2022 at The Indian Music Diaries Awards.

Mythical tales shared on Diwali vary widely depending on the region and even with Hindu tradition, yet all share a common focus on righteousness and the importance of knowledge, which is the path to overcome the darkness of ignorance.
