Electric motorbike startup Dat Bike opened a new store in Hanoi on March 15 as part of its journey to conquer the northern market.

The move is also part of its plan to expand to more than 50 stores this year with a focus on the northern region to cement its position in the local electric motorbike market.

The Hanoi store has a showroom, service centre, and spare parts, aiming to bring the best possible experience to customers.

Bui Nguyen Truc Ny, marketing manager of Dat Bike, said that the expansion investment in Hanoi and northern provinces is an important step to meet the growing consumer demand for electric motorbikes.

"We see strong growth in the electric vehicle market in the north and are committed to bringing high-quality, high-performance products at affordable prices to users, contributing to promoting green transportation," she shared.

Since 2019, Dat Bike has focused on the southern market to develop sales and service centres. This decision has helped Dat Bike build a solid position thanks to its strong retail distribution network, optimising its supply chain, and refining its service operations. Now entering the north, the company is ready with a stable supply source and professional services.

Half a decade ago, electric motorcycles were met with scepticism, with people doubting their convenience and cost-efficiency. Electric motorcycles are now not just a passing trend, they are the future of urban transportation.

According to Dat Bike, the company’s key focus market in 2025 will be the northern provinces of Vietnam. It plans to expand its store network in major economic and sociocultural cities as an initial springboard, accelerating its nationwide expansion and future export plans.

With its new store in Hanoi, Dat Bike is offering more than just products. It is delivering a complete customer experience, from vehicle purchases and maintenance to genuine spare parts supply. This model, successfully adopted by major motorcycle brands, demonstrates that Dat Bike is fully capable of doing the same in the electric vehicle industry.

Dat Bike’s success is no coincidence. Since its inception, the company has made forward-thinking decisions, particularly in battery technology. One of the boldest moves was integrating battery ownership with its motorcycles, a model that initially sparked debate due to the significantly higher upfront cost compared to battery rental or swapping models.

Over the past five years, many electric motorcycle manufacturers have experimented with different business models, particularly regarding battery purchasing, rental, and swapping policies. As competitors gradually recognise the long-term drawbacks of battery swapping and rentals, such as accumulating costs and technological limitations, Dat Bike’s steadfast approach has become the standard that others are now following.

Dat Bike’s in-house battery technology enables charging speeds up to four times faster than conventional electric motorcycles, even with a standard household outlet, and boasts a lifespan of up to 25 years. This saves users time and costs and ensures long-term stability and convenience, making charging station availability no longer a concern when deciding to go electric.

With the launch of its new store in Hanoi, Dat Bike is not just expanding its retail network, it is marking a new chapter in its evolution: electric motorcycles are no longer the “alternative” to petrol bikes. With superior performance, lower operating costs, and a positive environmental impact, Dat Bike is ushering in a new era for urban mobility.

The Quantum S1 model, for example, offers an impressive 285 km per charge, a top speed of 100 km/h, and a charging cost of just around VND12,000 ($480) per full charge. These figures do not just compete with petrol motorcycles, they surpass them in many aspects. It’s a clear sign that electric motorcycles are ready to take over daily transportation in Vietnam.

Dat Bike’s aggressive expansion in the northern market is not just a strategic move for the company itself, but also a milestone for Vietnam’s electric motorcycle industry. If a Vietnamese startup can thrive in this space, it serves as undeniable proof that the future of green transportation in Vietnam is already here.
