Danang is accelerating its vaccination programme with the target of administering shots to all people above the age of 18 by the end of this year.

Danang aims to vaccinate around 20,000 people a day to reach this target

According to Danang Department of Health, to date, the city established 10 places with 140 healthcare staffs teams for vaccination with the capacity of injecting 20,000 people a day.

Ngo Thi Kim Yen, director of Danang Department of Health said that the city needs 1.6 doses of vaccines for 826,000 people above the age of 18. If vaccince distribution complies with the Ministry of Health’s schedule, the city will complete the vaccination by the end of this year.

So far, 97,850 people were injected vaccines, 7,500 of whom have received both doses.

The pandemic remains a complication in the city. On August 10, the city reported 70 new COVID-19 infections. In late July, the city had to close down Tho Quang Fishing Port, the largest fishing port in the central region, for seven days to disinfect the area and carry out pandemic prevention measures.

Previously, on July 10, Vietnam officially launched its nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign for all people above the age of 18. The campaign will last from July 2021 until April 2022 to vaccinate 75 million people against COVID-19, making it the largest-ever such campaign in the country's history.
