The orchestral work ‘Rite of Spring’ by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky was presented in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in June. The dance performance conducted by French leading choreographer Jean-Claude Gallotta aims at celebrating 40 years of diplomatic relations between France and Vietnam.
‘Rite of Spring’ has been described as the most important piece of music of the 20th century. It was first introduced to audiences by the Theater des Champs-Élysées in 1913. The ballet is a story of authentic rites in ancient Russia.
On the other hand, a jazz concert presenting French melodies will take place at the French Cultural Exchange Center, L'Espace, in Hanoi on September 5.
Music lovers will have a chance to enjoy lyrical, soaring and improvisational melodies of French Jazz via famous works by Django Reinhardt, Richard Galliano and Charles Trenet performed by the New Morning Quartet.
Members of the band are artists of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, including guitarists Thinh Fla and Viet Dung, drummer and percussionist Dinh Huy, and bassist Hai Bang.
