Ba Ria-Vung Tau made the commitment at a conference to review the results of the socioeconomic cooperation programme in 2023 between Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, and Tay Ninh. The conference was organised in Ba Ria-Vung Tau on December 21-22.
Ba Ria-Vung Tau People's Committee was assigned by the Coordinating Board to organise the preliminary conference and build a plan to implement the cooperation scheme’s action plan for 2024.
The event evaluated the results of the agreement on cooperation for tourism development in the southeast region in 2023. At the same time, it provided an opportunity for provinces and cities to discuss and learn from each other's experiences, allowing successful models to be replicated.
Le Ngoc Khanh, Vice Chairman of Ba Ria-Vung Tau People's Committee, said that this association helps localities in the region with their planning work and long-term ambitions. In addition, the parties can share information on tourism products, market insights, trends, and the needs of domestic and international visitors.
Khanh also emphasised the importance of linking destinations in many provinces together, creating attractive tourism products, and promoting each other's brands on media channels.
At present, some tour routes are being exploited effectively, including the Ho Chi Minh City-Ho Tram-Binh Chau tour, Flavours of Tay Ninh with a journey from Ho Chi Minh City to Tay Ninh and Ba Den Mountain, and Green Nature - Harmony of the Sea, connecting Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, among others.
“Each locality has its own strengths and tourism products that can be exploited together to create synergistic advantages, which will be good for all parties and the entire region. The localities in the region have advantages in terms of ecotourism, community initiatives, cultural-historical tourism, and regional tours. They have intra-and inter-regional cooperation links based on their comparative advantages to jointly promote tourism,” Khanh said.
“Each location needs to unify its mechanisms to encourage businesses to invest in tourism and travel in interprovincial chains and incentivise tourism services to form a closely linked organisation. Thereby, the coordination of and support for regional tourism will be carried out quickly, methodically, and effectively,” Khanh said.
According to Ba Ria-Vung Tau People’s Committee, the province will focus on linking more effectively with cities and provinces in the southeastern region and expanding its links with other areas to effectively exploit specific products in each location.
The province will try to diversify its offerings to increase competitiveness so that tourism businesses can expand their markets, while also implementing promotion and investment activities.
It is focused on developing transportation infrastructure systems to connect areas with high potential, creating the necessary conditions for development and inviting real estate investors to build facilities.
Trinh Hang, director of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Department of Tourism said, "The province converges all the elements to develop into a major tourism centre in the southeast region and the country in general. Over the years, all levels of the province have synchronously implemented many infrastructure projects to promote tourism."
Statistics from the Department of Tourism show that the number of travellers to Ba Ria-Vung Tau has seen an annual increase of 12.9 per cent, and the revenue from this sector has witnessed an average increase of 15.9 per cent.
The socioeconomic cooperation programme was created by Ho Chi Minh City and was signed for the first time in June 2020 in Tay Ninh with the participation of six cities and provinces.
