As foreign affairs activities play an important role in promoting socioeconomic development and ensuring national security and defence, Ba Ria-Vung Tau has determined that the key task is to improve its effectiveness in this area by being proactive, synchronous, creative, and effective, with a clear focus on bringing practical benefits.
The aim is to promote the image, potential, and advantages of the province to meet its foreign policy goals.

Currently, Ba Ria-Vung Tau is working on a range of international agreements with wide-ranging activities such as business networking events, art workshops, cultural promotion events, and more.
The province has also signed agreements with foreign organisations and businesses to improve the development of the local economy, create mechanisms to deploy new models, and support the trade and investment promotion process.
In addition, it has cultivated relations with partners from countries and territories that have strategic partnership agreements with Vietnam, such as ASEAN, Japan, South Korea, the US, Canada, China, India, Australia, and others.

This year, the province has worked with 78 foreign delegations and led many working groups to countries such as China, South Korea, Indonesia, Laos, and Cambodia.

Efforts have also geared towards promoting cooperative ties and signing more international agreements, such as an MoU with Xieng Khouang province in Laos, renewing an MoU with Padang in Indonesia, and an action programme with Siem Reap province in Cambodia.

Currently, 18 international agreements at the provincial level and 10 more at the local level remain valid.
Throughout the year, the province has issued documents relating to foreign affairs activities, such as Plan No.82/KH-UBND dated May 18 pertaining to the implementation of Directive No.15-CT/TW from the Secretariat on economic diplomacy, and governmental Resolution No.21/NQ-CP from February on the same topic.
Over the year to date, the province has hosted 11 international seminars and conferences that have attracted more than 2,275 participants.
Effectively implementing foreign affairs activities
To enhance the efficiency of international economic integration, last month Ba Ria-Vung Tau enacted decision 2576 on implementing governmental Resolution No.93/NQ-CP, promoting rapid and sustainable economic development over the 2023-2030 period.
Accordingly, the province will focus on five main groups of solutions, including reforming and improving economic institutions, strengthening the local business environment and competitiveness, effectively implementing free trade agreements, enhancing post-pandemic economic growth and sustainable development, and fostering integration in terms of culture, society, science, technology, security, and defence.
It has also assigned relevant management agencies, and units at all levels, to expedite reforms of administrative procedures, especially those related to investment, import-export, and taxes.
In 2024, Ba Ria-Vung Tau is set to continue promoting economic diplomacy and materialise the signed international agreements to ensure practical and effective cooperation with each partner.
