Themed “Shaping Vietnam’s sustainable future through digital transformation”, ABB’s booth showcased some of the firm's revolutionary innovations, including ABB Ability Smart Sensor, ABB Ability Digital Powertrain, ABB AbilityConnected Services, and Terra54 electric vehicle charger.

The ABB Ability Smart Sensor converts traditional motors, pumps, and mounted bearings into smart, wirelessly connected, energy-efficient devices.

It measures key parameters from the surface of the equipment, which can be used to gain meaningful information on the condition and performance of the equipment, enabling users to identify inefficiencies within their system and to reduce risks related to operation and maintenance.

ABB Ability Smart Sensor is expected to save up to 60 per cent on maintenance costs, reduce unplanned downtime by 70 per cent, and extend motor lifetime by up to 30 per cent.

ABB Ability Digital Powertrain integrates sensor and drive data with cloud-based analytics along a whole chain of industrial equipment used in factory environments – from drives and motors to pumps and bearings.

An essential element of the ABB Ability Digital Powertrain is its monitoring services, allowing each powertrain to send measurement data to the cloud, which is then visible to the operator on a simple dashboard.

It combines connectivity and data analytics with ABB’s expertise to make operations efficient, predictable, and safe. With ABB Ability Digital Powertrain, customers will gain benefits from improved performance with up to 20 per cent fewer incidents and 60 per cent faster response time and issue recovery.

ABB also showcased ABB AbilityConnected Services. Being delivered via ABB’s MyRobot – a single, intuitive interface – ABB Ability Connected Services make actionable data available anywhere and at any time to enhance robot uptime and optimise the performance of robotic systems.

With ABB Ability Connected Services, customers can overcome up to 25 per cent fewer incidents and achieve as much as 60 per cent faster response time and issue recovery.

In addition, ABB’s Terra 54, built on a decade of EV fast-charging experience, will make its first appearance in Vietnam. Developed to enhance usability and reliability by enabling continuous 50kW charging up to 500V in 15 to 30 minutes, it is part of the ABB Ability portfolio of connected solutions, the company’s unified digital offering across different industries with 210 solutions to date.

ABB Ability delivers connectivity that allows e-mobility charging network operators to perform several functions including remote monitoring and configuring of charging points to resolve drivers' issues.

ABB Ability also enables servicing of equipment with minimal downtime and the flexibility to connect to any charging network, back-office, payment, or energy management solutions.

In Vietnam, transportation is one of the major causes of air pollution in urban areas according to a 2016 report by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

ABB looks forward to bringing the chargers into the country to support sustainable urban mobility.

ABB’s solid track record across Vietnam’s industries and utilities in the last 26 years along with the company’s expertise in digital and connected services over four decades globally has given confidence to Vietnamese customers to choose ABB as their partner in digital transformation and greenfield projects.

In the cement industry, ABB has helped Tan Thang Cement to build the country’s most modern production plant equipped with the latest digital technologies to help achieve production and efficiency goals from the first day of production.

In the water sector, ABB has worked with SAWACO to digitalise the water network in Ho Chi Minh City to ensure a safe, reliable, and efficient water supply.

In the automotive industry, ABB’s robots are deployed at the region’s most modern factory and connected with ABBAbilityConnected Services to ensure the optimal performance of the facility.

ABB’s solid track record across Vietnam’s industries and utilities in the last 26 years along with the company’s expertise in digital and connected services over four decades globally has given confidence to Vietnamese customers to choose ABB as their partner in digital transformation and greenfield projects.

“Vietnam is experiencing an exciting phase of development with rapid industrialisation and urbanisation as well as a fast-growing middle class. Whether it’s digitalisation, innovation, advanced manufacturing or urban infrastructure, ABB’s technologies complement Vietnam’s future roadmap perfectly," said Brian Hull, country managing director of ABB in Vietnam. "As a technology leader, we will drive the adoption of digital technologies across Vietnam’s industries and walk hand-in-hand with the country to its next phase of growth and sustainability.”

The Vietnam Industry 4.0 Summit that took place early this week at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi was one of the most prestigious, senior-level events focusing on the deployment and development of Industry 4.0 in Vietnam.

With the theme "Vietnam’s strategy and action plan in proactively embracing the Fourth Industrial Revolution", the event served as a premium platform not only for knowledge-sharing, discussion, and networking but also for displaying the most innovative technologies and solutions for digital transformation.

Vietnam has established itself as one of the most attractive investment markets in the Industry 4.0 era. The country’s global innovation index is constantly increasing, and it is currently leading the group of countries at an average development level.

According to the National Digital Transformation Strategy, by 2025, 50 per cent of Vietnam’s small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will shift to digital platforms and the country will develop at least 80,000 digital technology enterprises.

A technology leader that is driving the digital transformation of industries, ABB operates in more than 100 countries with about 147,000 employees.
