Dai Lanh Lighthouse in Phu Yen Province. - VNS File Photo the sun com up on the Cape of Dien |
Located in Dong Hoa District, the cape is one of the furthermost eastern parts of mainland Vietnam, along with the Cape of Doi in the neighbouring province of Khanh Hoa.
It takes about three hours from Nha Trang City to get to Dien by motorbike, and the trip takes travellers past the breathtaking beauty of Vung Ro Beach and Ca Pass, one of the longest mountain passes in the country.
Visitors should depart from Nha Trang in the afternoon so they can reach the Cape of Dien in the evening so they wake up early the next morning and catch the beautiful sunrise.
The cape is small and pristine, and is still mostly unspoiled. A night at the hostel costs VND50,000 per person.
It takes about 30 minutes to walk from the hostel to the coast, where you can catch the best view of the sunrise.
When the sun appears at around 5am, the mellow blue of the seawater and the pink sunlight blur together, creating a gorgeous scene.
After watching the sunrise, visitors can visit Dai Lanh Lighthouse, which was built by the French in 1890.
The lighthouse is 26.5 metres high and 110 metres above sea level, and can be seen from 27 nautical miles.
