The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has just launched the Vietnam Grand Sale 2023, which takes place nationwide from December 4 to January 10 to promote domestic consumption, advertising, and trade, as well as connect supply and demand chains to contribute to socioeconomic development and recovery.
MoIT Deputy Minister Do Thang Hai said that trade, services, and tourism have made positive recoveries. Total retail sales and consumer service revenue in November were estimated at $23 billion, up 1.4 per cent on-month and 10.1 per cent on-year.
Production and business activities have prospered, with the total import and export turnover of goods being estimated at $60.8 billion, an increase of 5.9 per cent on-year.
However, the global situation continues to evolve rapidly and unpredictably. Risks linger in terms of public debt, supply chains, and the real estate markets.
In the country, the economy is continuing its positive recovery trend, but it still faces many challenges due to the impacts of external factors and internal limitations that have lasted for many years.
To effectively implement the programme, the MoIT requests all local departments of industry and trade, relevant associations and agencies, businesses, and individuals to participate.
"The ministry believes that the Vietnam Grand Sale 2023 will contribute to taking advantage of the well-recovering domestic market to increase sales and consumer service revenue at the end of the year, helping to maintain the strong growth of the economy," Hai said.
The Vietnam Grand Sale 2023 has been held for four consecutive years (2020-2023) to enhance trade promotion and boost the domestic market. Deputy director of the MoIT's Trade Promotion Agency Le Hoang Tai said that the event has shown positive results, luring the attention and participation of the business community and consumers across the country.
The initiative has drawn nearly 70,000 promotional campaigns implemented by businesses. It contributed to increasing total retail sales and consumer service revenue in November 2022 to $21.4 billion, up 2.6 per cent on-month and 17.5 per cent on-year. Last year, the figures reached $21.5 billion in December, up 3.7 per cent on-month and 17.1 per cent on-year.
"These results contributed significantly to the successful implementation of the MoIT's tasks assigned by the government to stimulate domestic consumption, especially Vietnamese-made goods, promoting their production, circulation, and consumption," stated Tai.
