This event marks a shift from discussions about AI safety to concrete actions, focusing on five key themes: public interest AI, jobs, investment, ethics, and regulation.
At the summit, Vietnam and countries issued a joint statement, calling for more global AI governance, ensuring that the technology develops in a transparently, equitably and sustainably.
Vietnam's participation affirms its role in the international AI community, opening up opportunities for cooperation and AI application.
This summit is an opportunity for Vietnam to approach the latest development trends of AI, while boosting policies and strategies to effectively apply AI in important areas such as healthcare, education, and digital economy. This is also a chance for Vietnam to affirm its active role in the international AI community, towards a sustainable and humane AI future.
This is also the third time the world has held a summit on AI, after the conferences in Bletchley Park (UK) and Seoul (South Korea). What is noteworthy is the change in approach: from the "AI Safety Summit" to the "AI Summit", and now the "AI Action Summit."
On the sidelines of the summit, the Vietnamese deputy minister attended the 3rd Southeast Asia Business Forum, organised by the French Ministry of Foreign Trade on February 12.
He highlighted Vietnam’s special advantages such as political stability, leaders' strong determination in boosting science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, a favourable geographical location that makes it a gateway to ASEAN, and the long-standing relations with France, which help to not only foster ties with France but also strengthen connections between ASEAN countries and the European nation.
The deputy minister expressed his hope for increased French investment in Vietnam and the ASEAN region.
Vietnam is developing an AI-related legal framework, and that both state-owned and private enterprises are interested in this area, promising many opportunities for Vietnam – France cooperation.
