The event aimed to announce Seoul's tourism resumption and showcase the various charms of the trend-driving metropolis to enthusiasts in Ho Chi Minh City. With a focus on the Hallyu Wave, which Vietnamese are familiar with and passionate about, the event featured diversified experience booths and performances on K-beauty, fashion, and K-pop.
The participants were excited to join the Seoul Beauty Show to see trending makeup looks and hairstyles at the beauty classes and to be completely immersed in Seoul's vibrant street fashion. Remarkably, Seoul's Mayor also stood on stage and participated as a model.
Along with the main stage, visitors could also check out Seoul’s beauty and dance in the Public Relations Hall.
In response to Vietnam’s K-pop fever, the K-pop Concert was organised with performances by the legendary HIGHLIGHT, female singer Hari Won, and nine Vietnamese teams competing in the K-Pop Cover Dance Festival – a global festival hosted by top-tier media Seoul Daily newspaper.
HE:aven – the winning team – will be given a chance to visit South Korea, meet their K-pop idols, learn from famous dancers, and participate in the final round held in Seoul next October.
Mayor of Seoul Sehoon Oh stated, “The Seoul Metropolitan Government considers Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City as strategic partners and tourism is particularly prominent in the exchanges between us. In addition, 2022 is also a special year marking the 30th anniversary of the South Korea-Vietnam diplomacy establishment. Thus, I expect that the event will provide a chance for the two countries in general, and the two cities in particular, to better understand each other, thereby creating an environment to promote tourism and explore new areas of cooperation in the future.”
Kiyon Kil, chairman and CEO of the Seoul Tourism Organization added, “I would like to thank Ho Chi Minh City's residents for their great enthusiasm and response to our event. The number of people who registered to attend and showed interest was nine times higher than we expected. As Vietnam is one of the countries with a high consumption rate of Hallyu culture, we are planning a further event in the near future.”
Starting with the promotion in Ho Chi Minh City, the organisers will continue the plan to promote Seoul as an ideal tourist destination around the world by focusing on meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions along with extensive face-to-face marketing covering Asia, Europe, and America.
In particular, BTS – who have served as Seoul's honorary tourism ambassadors since 2017 – will be with the world to promote Seoul as a city of tourism again this year.
