With at least 30 per cent of Vietnamese adults lacking regular physical exercise due to limited exercise habits and a shortage of community spaces, TCP Group and TCP Vietnam have partnered with the Vietnam Youth Federation and the National Volunteer Center to address this gap. The "Community Sport Yard - Energising Vietnamese Youth" programme aims to provide high-quality sports facilities for youth, especially in underserved areas where training facilities are insufficient. It also encourages greater community involvement, improving the quality of life for residents.
The programme will renovate and enhance the quality of existing yards, transforming them into sports facilities tailored to local needs. A total of 20 projects are planned for completion between 2024 and 2026, with the first event set to take place in October 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City.
Each yard will cover a minimum of 1,000 square metres, designed to meet community exercise needs. These facilities will include areas for football, basketball, and badminton, as well as outdoor fitness equipment. Based on local assessments, the programme will ensure that these community yards are implemented in densely populated areas, offering long-term plans and convenient spaces for outdoor recreational activities.
Arjaree Suwangool, global corporate affairs and communications director of TCP Group said, “This programme reaffirms our commitment to the local community by promoting physical health for Vietnamese youth and aligns with TCP Group’s global corporate purpose. We hope these efforts will help young people develop a regular exercise routine, contributing to the promotion of sports and improving the quality of life. TCP is honoured to continue its collaboration with the Vietnam Youth Federation on this meaningful project.”
Nguyen Kim Quy, member of the Central Youth Union’s Standing Committee and permanent vice president of the Central Vietnam Youth Federation, highlighted the significance of the project.
“The Youth Community Yards project will provide young people with spaces to train, develop physically, and improve their mental wellbeing. This will boost the energy and dynamism of Vietnamese youth. We deeply appreciate the support of TCP Group and TCP Vietnam in promoting physical fitness and enhancing the quality of life for young people in Vietnam.”
Do Thi Kim Hoa, member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Federation and director of the National Volunteer Center, added, “With nine community yards to be implemented in nine provinces and cities in 2024, this initiative is a meaningful way to celebrate the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Federation for the 2024-2029 term. It will not only highlight the Federation’s role in supporting youth but also promote the proactive involvement of young people in leading social welfare projects that benefit disadvantaged areas lacking in physical training and sports facilities.”
Over the past five years, TCP Vietnam has continued to invest in the youth, recognising them as dynamic pioneers contributing to societal development. During the 2020-2022 and 2023-2025 periods, TCP Vietnam and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Federation signed cooperation agreements to implement various initiatives aimed at spreading positive energy among the youth and the broader community.
Notable initiatives include the "Light of Vietnam Perseverance," the “Noble Youth” journey and awards, and the "Youth Workers' Day - Spread Positive Energy."
Among these, the “Youth Workers Football Tournament – Red Bull Cup” stands out, promoting the youth’s passion for physical fitness through healthy recreational activities. TCP Vietnam is committed to continuing its meaningful programmes, supporting the youth of Vietnam in the future.
