On the evening of October 27, Hanoi Tourist Ao Dai Festival 2023 the theme opened at the walking space around the Hoan Kiem Lake, remarking the second time the festival has been organised by Hanoi Department of Tourism and Hanoi Women's Union.

The attraction in the performance of designer Ngoc Han's ao dai collection is the appearance of special models such as the US ambassador's wife, and many foreign diplomats in Vietnam. These "special models" all wore ao dai with motifs or typical cultural features of their country, radiantly striding on the outdoor stage.

Kamitani Naoko, director of the Japanese Cultural Information Centre, Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, was delighted to perform ao dai for the first time in a major cultural programme in Hanoi

Nomura Mone, attaché of the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, was extremely impressed with the ao dai in the collection of designer Ngoc Han

'When you think of ao dai, you will think of the image of a soft silk fabric, gently fluttering in the wind, but the ao dai I am wearing has fabric made with an obi belt, so I can feel the weight of the shirt as when wearing a kimono. The ao dai is very wonderful and different from the dresses I have worn," Mone said.

Suzuko Knapper, wife of the US ambassador to Vietnam, said that culture - including fashion - has a strong pervasive power, bringing people in many countries closer together

In the "special" model line-up for designer Ngoc Han, there was also Pamela Orozco, daughter of the El Salvador ambassador to Vietnam. According to her, the ao dai reminds her of the flower of the maquilishuat tree, a representative tree of her home country
