On January 15, TreeBank organised the Tree Planting Day 2025 event, “Sharing a Dream, Colouring Vietnam Green.”
Tran Nhat Minh, director of the Institute for Research on Development Communication (RED Communication) under the TreeBank said, “With the aim of encouraging Vietnamese people worldwide to plant trees together, the organisers have created a map of Vietnamese tree planters at the address map.treebank.vn, so that Vietnamese individuals everywhere can access and pin their tree planting activities.”
The organisers have designed four projects on tree planting, water conservation, and livelihood creation in poor districts, particularly disadvantaged communes, buffer zones of national parks, and biosphere reserves in Pu Luong in Thanh Hoa, Phong Dien in Thua Thien Hue, Tan Uyen in Lai Chau, and Nui Ba in Tay Ninh.
The Tree Planting Day 2025 event will be held on the morning of March 2 at two locations, Pu Luong and Nui Ba, for residents of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to register and participate. Additionally, within the framework of the event, there will be other locations organised by partners and the community.
In 2025, the organisers of the Tree Planting Day event have set a goal to mobilise the participation of Vietnamese individuals at 100 locations inside and outside the country, raising VND 6 billion ($250,000) for tree seedlings to allocate to this year’s tree planting projects in Lai Chau, Thanh Hoa, Thua Thien Hue, and Tay Ninh.
The Tree Planting Day is the first Vietnamese initiative contributed by RED Communication, Pencil Group, and OMverse to the community to spread good deeds at the beginning of the year in line with Vietnamese tradition.
The year 2025 marks the second year of the programme. In 2024, the scheme raised approximately $41,600 for tree planting activities. Dozens of businesses and communities participated in tree planting events in Ninh Thuan and Son La and many other locations nationwide.
TreeBank has evolved from a women-initiated community model in Lam Dong with initial support from the Canadian Embassy in 2021.
Every year, TreeBank donates around 100,000 seedlings of various kinds to improve the environment and support the livelihoods of ethnic minority communities, especially women, from contributions from businesses and the community.
