In Vietnam, the bank returned to in-person volunteering in full force for the third time post-pandemic, organising two tree-planting events in June.

Citi employees recently planted over hundred trees for Binh Thanh Primary and Secondary School in Long An province and Duy Hai Ward Secondary School in Ha Nam province. This initiative aligns with the Vietnamese government’s project of planting one billion trees within five years.

“Citi’s Global Community Day is special. We bring together employees with their families to work on an important social cause and to set an example. Our tree planting campaign is in line with our climate strategy, including Citi’s commitment to net-zero emissions and a green future,” said Ramachandran A.S., country officer and banking head of Citi Vietnam.

On this occasion, Citi Vietnam employees also collected thousands of new and old books to establish libraries at the schools.

In July, Citi also held two annual blood donation campaigns in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to generate wider awareness of blood donations.

Globally, last year, over 70,000 volunteer engagements took place across 83 countries and territories where Citi is present.

It is not just about the numbers though, it is about the dedicated efforts of Citi employees who work alongside families and friends to drive positive change in the communities. This collaborative spirit makes Global Community Day of Citi’s special.
